“Watercolors that Glow” Classes at Cape May County Libraries

The Cape May County Library takes great pleasure in offering free “Watercolors that Glow” classes to the public under the tutelage of artist Anna Marie Zabielski.

Classes will be held during the month of April at the Lower Cape Branch, in May at the Upper Cape Branch and in June at the Main Library.

* Mondays, April 6, 13, 20 and 27 – 3-5 p.m. at the Lower Cape Branch Library, 2600 Bayshore Rd., Villas (886-8999)
* Saturdays, May 2, 9, 16 and 30 -11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Upper Cape Branch Library, 2050 Route 631, Petersburg (628-2607)
* Thursdays, June 4, 11, 18 and 25 – 4-6 p.m. at the Main Library, 30 Mechanic St., Cape May Court House (463-6350)

Students will paint with bright, clear colors on traditional watercolor paper. Two of the classes focus on painting flowers from life, developing a design, but not necessarily painting what you see and two classes focus on landscape painting using copy, learning a technique that captures an impressionistic effect. Individual attention is given to each student as time allows. A mini critique will be given at the end of each class.

Anna Marie Zabielski is known for her impressionistic renderings expressed with bright, clean colors. Zabielski is the recipient of numerous fine arts awards; a member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, an Associate Member of the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville, NJ as well as a member of Gallery 50, Inc and the New Jersey American Artist’ Professional League. She is a member and has served on the Board of the Cape May County Art League.

Zabielski was chosen as the featured artist/signer for the 2004 Cape May Point Civic Club’s 50th anniversary celebration. Two of her paintings were featured on the Cape May County, Department of Tourism Calendar/Poster for 2005-06. Zabielski maintains a studio in West Cape May.

There is no charge for the class but class size is limited therefore registration and valid library card is required. A material list is available when registering.
