Poetry by Jack Walters at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 6th 2009 @ Cape May County Library

Enjoy a performance of poetry readings by Jack Walters at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 6th at the Main Branch of the Cape May County Library. The library is located at 30 Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.

Jack Walters, a New Jersey poet, gives a public reading from his books “Saigon and Other Poems” and from his new collection of poetry, “Love Songs and Beatitudes.”

Walters, who currently resides in North Cape May, retired after a career as a correspondent and newscaster covering events in many parts of the world during World War II, the Korean War, and the Cold War in Europe. He worked for CBS News, other national networks; Radio Free Europe and The Stars and Stripes.

Barnes and Noble is quoted as saying, “Saigon and Other Poems is the culmination of nearly ninety years of living, observing, and reporting. Former newsman Jack Walters combines the great events of the American Century and the keenly felt moments of a man’s life into a body of poetry emotive, erudite and profound as anything written these past fifty years.”

Light refreshments will be offered before the recital. Walters’ books will be available for sale.
