The Honorable Rudy Giuliani to Speak at 24th Annual Memorial Service and Brunch for March 8, 2009

Atlantic City, NJ (February 3, 2009) – The 200 Club of Atlantic and Cape May Counties has scheduled its 24th Annual Memorial Service and Brunch for March 8, 2009. The Service is scheduled for 10:30a.m. at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Roman Catholic Church in Atlantic City, followed by a brunch at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (Event Center). The Honorable Rudy Giuliani, former prosecutor, U.S. Attorney, two-time Mayor of New York City and 2008 Presidential candidate will be the featured guest speaker at this year’s brunch.

The mission of the 200 Club is to support and assist survivorsand families of police, fire and emergency services personnel who die in the line of duty. Any person, small business or large corporation in the area may become a dues-paying member of the 200 Club. However, dues are only a small part of the funds used to support families who have experienced the tragedy of a line-of-duty death. The bulk of the Club’s work is funded from the proceeds of the annual Memorial Service and Brunch Event.

The current President of the 200 Club is Borgata Vice President and General Counsel, Joe Corbo. Corbo and the Memorial Event co-chairs, Madeline Neumann and Ellen Loughney, are delighted to add the national prominence of Mayor Giuliani to the corps of local participants in the event, which includes: Msgr. William A. Hodge, pastor of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church and Chaplain of Atlantic City’s Fire Department, as principal celebrant of the Mass service, members of the Egg Harbor Township Police Explorers Post #94 who will assist at the Church and members of the Diocese of Camden’s Jubilate Deo Chorale who will perform and be leaders of song at the Church.

NBC-10 South Jersey Bureau Reporter Ted Greenberg will emcee the program, which will feature plenty of pageantry supplied by a combined Honor Guard of the New Jersey State Police and Atlantic City Police Department, the Cape/Atlantic Police and Fire Irish Pipe Brigade, and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly #662.

The annual event routinely attracts 700-800 attendees, many of whom are survivors, and many others of whom are police, fire and emergency services personnel who participate in uniform. This year, with Mayor Giuliani as the featured guest speaker, the Club hopes to exceed its previous attendance record of 840. Tickets to the event are $25 and are available by calling the 200 Club at 609/625-1024.
