Fin Whale Washes up in Long Branch – Fined $250 for No Beach Badge – July 6th 2008

It seems that the weekend is going to end with a whole Lotta Commotion. In Long Branch today an Endangered Fin whale washed up dead on beach. Although it will be fined $200 for not having a Beach Badge. There is speculation that the whale may have had Mafia ties to North Jersey, Experience the Shore will be looking into this story…

An endangered Fin whale has washed up dead on the beach in Seven Presidents’ Park, park officials said today.The whale, which is about 40 feet long, was found by rangers upon opening the park this morning, said Senior Park Manager Mark Borchert. MORE…

Sheila Dean of the Stranding Center said the Center currently had little information, but said that the whale was significantly decomposed when it was found.
