(Cape May, NJ) On June 21, be there for the world premiere screening of “Mermaid Tears,” a film produced by students at the Richard M. Teitelman School. “The students have been working for months on this project,” says Gail Schmidtchen, Guidance Counselor at Teitelman and Producer of the film. “From concept to filming and to finished product, they had their hand in every aspect of the production.”

“JC Stinson (left) and Peter Owens star in ‘Mermaid Tears,’ a film by Teitelman students that will premiere at Harborfest Saturday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m.”

The Lower Cape May Regional School District was very supportive in creating the film, according to Schmidtchen. “We also want to thank JC Stinson, local Hollywood screenwriter who starred with student Peter Owens in the film, and the Cape May Film Academy.” The screening will take place on Saturday, June 21, at 1:00 p.m. during the Harborfest Celebration.

“We plan to have a couple newer films from our Young Filmmakers,” says Tom Sims, Executive Director for the Academy, which is the educational arm of the Cape May Film Society. “But ‘Mermaid Tears’ is the centerpiece. It’s a nicely told story with beautiful cinematography from student Lily Mullock. The audience is going to love this work.”

The Cape May Film Society hosts the Cape May Film Festival, which is New Jersey’s premiere film festival dedicated to the support and presentation of creative, challenging, groundbreaking, film/video works by New Jersey filmmakers.
