Events for the Weekend of March 28th-30th

Well we hope every one had a great 1st weekend of spring and a Happy Easter. The weekends are getting warmer and the activities are picking up down the shore. This up coming weekend we have 2 running events so why not break out the Nike’s and head to the shore. Don’t forget that prime biking weather is coming up soon so you better hit the gym and start training for the beach.

The 10th Annual Running of the Ocean Drive Marathon is scheduled for March 30, 2008.

This marathon runs along the famous Ocean Drive from Cape May to Sea Isle City. It crosses wetlands and many of the quaint toll bridges in Cape May County

This annual event raises money for some great causes. Take a few moments and check out their respective websites. And remember Turtle Crossing season is around the bend!

One of the beneficiaries of the 10th Annual Ocean Drive Marathon is The Marine Mammal Stranding Center.
They are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of stranded marine mammals and sea turtles. Since their opening the MMSC has responded to over 2,800 stranding calls! The Stranding Center is the only one of its kind in New Jersey, and is supported by grants, fund-raising, and donations.

The Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County (an organization that Provides Free Healthcare Services to the Medically Uninsured and Underserved Citizens of Cape May County. Volunteer physicians and nurses provide these services.)

The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey (a nonprofit organization supporting The NJ Division
of Fish & Wildlife’s Endangered and Nongame Species Program (ENSP) through fundraising and public
education. ENSP’s dedicated biologists are responsible for the stewardship of over 63 endangered
and threatened species in New Jersey, including the bobcat, bog turtle, peregrine falcon, and bald eagle.)

Special Olympics of NJ Spring Sports Festival

Saturday 29th 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. & Sunday 30th 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
At the Wildwoods Convention Center. A multi-day event in which 1000+ athletes from the Garden State will compete in basketball competitions. Free.

Hosted by the Washington Inn and sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC). Limited to 80 Students. $25 per person for individual classes or $225 for the entire course. Customers who purchase 9 tickets, get the 10th for free. Unless otherwise noted, all classes are conducted at the Washington Inn, 801 Washington Street, Cape May, and are held from 1pm-3pm on Sunday afternoons. Attendees must be 21.
